During the early years, we built our initial business and reputation around fan motors, and those electric fans became the summertime godsend to the American South and Midwest. Later on, to counter the seasonality of the fan business, we began producing many sizes of fractional horsepower AC and DC motors.

Our first 63 years were very positive. We rose to the challenges of wartime mobilization and peacetime retrenchment. Through these expansions and contractions, we demonstrated an ability to improve ourselves by lowering manufacturing costs, increasing output, offering new products, finding new markets, and using acquisitions to build on our existing strengths and branch out further into other areas.

By 1973, we had become the third-largest electric motor manufacturer in the United States. Today, we are the largest fractional horsepower motor producer in the world.
